The Rector of Sherborne the Revd Canon Eric Woods guides TSP around the treasures of Sherborne Abbey. Around 70-thousand people a year come to the town to visit the Abbey but it is much more than a tourist attraction.
Tourists come to marvel at the 15th century fan vaulted ceiling of Sherborne Abbey but christians have worshipped near the spot for 13 centuries. The Revd Canon Eric Woods has been Rector of Sherborne for more than 25 years. He guides TSP around the Abbey, telling of Royal visits, his battles to improve the fabric of the building, and the place it occupies in the life of the town. Canon Woods speaks about the founder St Aldhelm who built the first church in 705, the "wow" factor when visitors first enter the Abbey, the music, and the history.
